Voices in my Head

By now you should know I have an overactive imagination - Behold the fruits of that imagination! Perhaps a little introduction, yes?

I have developed many characters for stories and roleplays since Candice and I first began plotting out our work. Most of these remain merely story characters. Some, however, have stuck with me, amassing vivid history and dozens of stories along the way. Over the course of 2007 and into 2008, I began to realize each one of these characters held an ideal trait. A quality I found essential to work on in myself, something I needed. Each character draws upon this particular trait for inner strength and drive. Unlike the voices in my head, characters are extensions of myself and my idealized self.

Over the last three years, those who have guarded me in my dreams have also become very potent voices in my head. In 2007, I took a course called "Philosophy of the Mind" or "Philopsyche" which really forced me to dissect myself. There are many motivators behind our actions: Base needs, scripts, shadow elements and values. Think of your "self" as the manager and your emotions, basic needs and values as employees. It seemed rather obvious after a little thought that the world inside my head was grasping some of these elements. Like my alter-ego, the roles of my guardians change. They have always been, first and foremost, voices in my head and players in my dreams. I have never sought out to create them or upgrade them, they evolve themselves.
